Benefits of switching gas and electricity suppliers

Scottish Power attempts to quell customer anger with price cut

The energy market game of quell the customer’s anger is continuing. Today, Scottish Power is throwing their hat in the ring with a 5.4% cut in gas prices. While it is slightly higher than the other price cuts announced by SSE and E.On, it is nothing to get excited about.

This is the latest in a line of underwhelming price cuts that make an negligible impact on the big bills delivered for those on standard tariffs. The cheapest tariffs are over £300 a year less than the standard tariffs ripping off households around the country.

Scottish Power’s price cut provides further proof that consumers must not wait around for their Big Six suppliers to pass on a fairer deal. They don’t appear to be passing on even half of the savings they are getting. If you want a reasonable price and a warm home you must take a few minutes to switch.

Loyal customers are being dealt a bad hand by the current market structure and their luck doesn’t look likely to change any time soon.
