Scottish Power offer deal on switching

compare Scottish power and save on your energy bill

ScottishPower has announced the cheapest online energy deal for two years at £845, giving the consumer an average saving of £372 a year.

This reflects a trend of suppliers offering short-term special deals while withdrawing their fixed price tariffs as wholesale prices rise.

Independent price comparison site energyhelpline.com is advising customers to move quickly to cash in on the special offers or risk losing out.

Energy customers urged to “move fast” to snap up the best deals

~ energyhelpline.com sounds alert as ScottishPower announces cheapest dual fuel deal on the market since 2008 ~

Consumers have been urged to be vigilant to snap up summer fuel deals after ScottishPower announced the cheapest gas and electricity tariff on the market.

Customers can save £372 a year on a standard tariff by signing up to the ScottishPower online cashback deal with an average annual cost, of £845. It is the lowest for two years and beats the British Gas Websaver 8 offer by £4 but lasts only until midnight on Thursday, August 12.

Mark Todd, director of the independent price comparison website energyhelpline.com, said: “Summer is a quiet time for providers so their marketing departments tend to get busy by offering short-term cheap online tariffs.

“Customers need to be aware of this so they can move fast and sign up before the deals are withdrawn. Anybody looking to save money on their fuel bills can stay in touch with these special offers online.

“To paraphrase an old cliché, this is a case of “act slow, repent at leisure.”

Energyhelpline.com estimates fuel bills will rise by five per cent in January after an increase in wholesale prices. This upward trend is already being reflected as suppliers withdraw their fixed price offers.

Npower became the latest to do this on Friday, August 6, when it pulled its Go Fix 2 deal, costing £902. The cheapest fixed price tariffs have now gone up by five per cent in the past two weeks with the best fix now the Ovo New Energy Fixed at £925 a year.

Todd said: “Consumers need to be vigilant as there are good deals popping up on the web all the time. If they sign up to these during the summer they can save themselves a lot of money and misery when the winter sets in.”
